The ring location[]

The ring is in the sewer but I can also find it near the Sailor' Retreat in the Old Quarter, despite that the glowing trail still leads me to the sewer but it leads me back to James right after I get there, it's like a quicker and safer way to complete the quest. So should it be noted in the page?117.4.241.212 07:54, July 3, 2011 (UTC)

I think it's a glitch. Was that in a dig spot? If you are on this quest, some dig spots produce the ring by accident, but we can't be certain that it will always happen in any given location. --Enodoc(Talk) (User Space) 11:29, July 3, 2011 (UTC)
EDIT: Alternatively (it's been a while since I did this quest, so I'm not sure) if the ring in the sewers is a standard, unscripted ring, then possibly any ring will do to complete the quest, and what you found was a generic ring that can also fit the criteria. -E 11:32, July 3, 2011 (UTC)
The ring you find is definitely James' Engagement Ring. My assumption is that if you overlaid the map of Bowerstone Industrial over the map of the Sewer that this would be the same vertical location. My theory is that the dogs treasure locator is tied to two dimensions but not height. It is found between Plum House and Sailor's Retreat.Garry Damrau(talk) 16:57, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
P.S. I don't believe it is "any" unearthed dig spot. I usually am quite meticulous about digging up items and with the 5 star potion it makes it needless to go back once an area has been cleared. Garry Damrau(talk) 17:02, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
I understand your concept, but I believe the "Sewers" and "Bowerstone Industrial" are independent locations and aren't related to each other. Consider them as two separate files in a folder where the doors are hyperlinks between them. Also I have had personal experience of finding the ring in a dig spot in Bowerstone Old Quarter and have heard that someone has also found it in Bowerstone Market. I think a bug means it might just appear in whichever dig spot you excavate first after accepting the quest. --Enodoc(Talk) (User Space) 18:46, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
In fact the first post on this page is about the same concept :) -E 18:47, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
I still am going to compare the maps when I unpack stuff. Right now things are kinda up in the air. It really don't matter because if players do the quest as designed there is no problem.Garry Damrau(talk) 19:31, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
