The Hero Killing A Child image, refers to a screenshot that was taken by a developer of Fable and Fable: The Lost Chapters, during the game's development. In this image, it shows the Hero of Oakvale using a stabbing animation which is clearly piercing the head of a male Child NPC.

History[]

The image was created by Charlton Edwards as an inside joke amongst the developers at Big Blue Box and Lionhead Studios and was never meant to be viewed by the general public. According to Charton himself, the Hero of Oakvale is simply using a stabbing animation, at the exact same time that a Child NPC is using a sleeping animation and was done purely for entertainment purposes amongst the team.

While the image was never intended to be released publicly, this actually managed to happen when an anonymous hacker by the name of Kibitz had managed to access the Lionhead Studio servers during the game's development. With this image being one of the more notorious leaks, which helped convince many fans into thinking that 'killing children' would be a feature in the game, due to the legitimacy of the source material.

Cut Content[]

There are plenty of animations that are still left in the game files of Fable and Fable: The Lost Chapters, which hint at the idea that Children may have been able to die as a feature, during the development of the first game.

While the evidence of these animations is pretty damning, according to some of the developers, this was done as a necessary protocol for the game to function correctly. Further explaining that most NPCs in Fable need to have a "death animation" coded into the game, even if they weren't planning on using them in the final version.
