Tribute to Russel Shaw:

There is a gravestone in Hook Coast, outside the ruined abbey, which reads, "Master bard R. Shaw lies here. His music can be heard wherever you go", referencing Russel Shaw, the composer for most of the music in the Fable series.

Graveyard Messages

Several of the gravestones in Lychfield graveyard have messages on them which are references to other books and games, such as:

  • Brom: Lived as a Storyteller and Dragon rider. (Brom from the Inheritance Cycle novels by Christopher Paolini.)
  • Brom: Here lies Brom, Lost his family and his life to Bandits (Possibly the Hero of Oakvale's father.)
  • Gimli: Don't call him short. (The dwarf Gimli from The Lord of The Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien.)
  • Captain J. Sparrow: The wind at your back forever, sir. (Reference to Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.)
  • "Sic Gorgiamus Allos Sublectatos Nunc" (We Gladly Feast on those who would Subdue us). Which is the motto of The Addams Family
  • What you lookin' at? (A British TV show starring Linford Chrstie)

Cursing in Witchwood

In the Find the Archaeologist quest, you must guess the name of the Demon Door that he is in. There are four stones from which you must decipher his name. The letters on the stones are I-H-S-T. There are a few words that you can make. HITS, THIS, SITH, TISH, HIST and SHIT. If you spell SHIT, two Balverines will come and attack you, followed by the stones' voice uttering a low 'Shit'.

Frying Pan

What you need is the Treasure Clues 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6. You will find this in Orchard Garden where there's a barn with nothing in it. The barn has hay cubes near it. There are three hay cubes on top of one another (forming something like a pyramid), between that hay pyramid and the barn, you have to dig, you'll know it's the place if there's a small lock on the barn wall. Dig there. The Frying Pan doesn't have any description, has 100 damage, and is heavy, and has four augmentation slots (five if you put all augmentations one after another).

Harry Potter Reference

When donating books to the Bowerstone school, and if the book selected is 'The Book of Spells' Mr. Gout will say "The book of spells? This isn't some potty school of wizards, you know!" an almost obvious reference to Harry Potter.

Secret messages

You can enter the names, when entering a name for yourself, below to see the associated hidden messages.

  • krunk: "You heard about the time I killed me a couple of Heroes?"
  • krunkl: same as above
  • krunki: "My hands are red with the blood of thousands."
  • krunko: "You know I once burned down a whole village."
  • krunkn: "I once killed a white balverine. I did, it's true."
  • Jeremy D: "Jeremy Defrehn is a nutter."
  • The last letter variations for "krunk" spell "lion" (For Lionhead Studios).

Reference To The Carter Brothers

In Oakvale's memorial garden, there are two gravestones which read "S. Carter, gave his life that Albion might live." and the other "D. Carter, ever unconvinced there is life before death..." This is a clear reference to brothers Simon and Dene Carter from the Lionhead team.

Reference to Superman

In the Heroes' Guild, the "Kryndon Tattoo" can be found in an upstairs bookshelf. It is a chest tattoo, and its design and name are likely references to Superman's iconic "Superman shield" (symbol worn on his chest) and his home planet of Krypton.

Oracle Expressions

The glyphs on the tablets and in the expressions for The Oracle spell out YMCA, a popular song in the 90's.

 Fable Anniversary: Sandgoose

In Fable Anniversary, when viewing the map of Albion in the menu or during loading screens, an illustration of a large bird, the Sandgoose, can be seen at the very bottom edge of the map, on a strip of land south of Albion's southern shore, directly south of Twinblade's Camp.

Fable Anniversary: Dave's hat

In fable anniversary as a free dlc is "dave's mind crate hat" which is most definaltly a reference to minecraft.
