Bowerstone Market is one of Bowerstone districts and is featured in both Fable II and Fable III, being the only location of the city to be featured with the same name in more than one game.

Overview[]

It is a bustling, thriving hub of commerce for the entire city of Bowerstone, if not the whole of Albion.

Fable II[]

Bowerstone Market is the first Bowerstone district to be entered when the Hero of Bower Lake goes on his journey, located just just east of Bower Lake.

Overview[]

The Cow & Corset inn, Pants!, one of the two furniture stores in Albion (the other one located in Bloodstone), and an Alchemist, are among the many shops and stands you find in the markets. Guards patrol this area regularly. Under the bridge is the entrance to the Gargoyle's Trove. Bowerstone Market is also considered to have excellent real estate, with large profits to be made from renting out properties and shop sales profits.

Economy[]

The market is the centre of commerce in the region, and therefore has an average-to-high standard of economy. All manner of items can be bought from the numerous stalls and shops, ranging from food, potions and weapons to augments, furniture, clothes and books. The stalls are open from 6:00am to 8:00pm and the shops are open from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Listen for the Town Crier advertising when the businesses open and close.

Law[]

Law is handled by the Albion Guard. There are regular patrols through the area. During night-time, these patrols increase, and additional stationary guards are placed at the main entrances to the area.

Points of Interest[]

The Town Square[]

The centre of Bowerstone Market, the Town Square, features a clock tower in the centre, and includes the Bowerstone Jewellery Stall, World of Chairs furniture store, Bowerstone Pie Stall, Fiction Burns book store, Potion in Motion alchemists, Bowerstones augments, The Cow & Corset tavern, Up in Arms blacksmiths and Bowerstone Fruit & Veg Stall.

Sovereign Road[]

Sovereign Road is located to the west of the Town Square, and leads to Fairfax Gardens. The Beautification Factory stylists, and Bit of Skirt clothing shop are located on this road. Its fast travel location is listed as Fairfax Road.

Old Town Road[]

Old Town Road is located north of the Town Square, and leads to Bowerstone Old Town. Pants! clothing shop is located on this road.

Bower Bridge[]

Bower Bridge is located east of the Town Square, and leads to Bower Lake. It encompasses the area from the entrance gate from Bower Lake, up to the Town Square. Bowerstone Fish Stall, Bowerstone Meat Stall, Bowerstone Drinks Stall, Bowerstone Coach House and Bowerstone's Big Pile of Stuff can be found on this road. If you go down the path leading under the bridge, on your left there will be a hidden diving spot right under the steps to the docks. However, these are smaller docks and do not house any boats. The dive spot leads inside the jail bars via what is probably a sewer system where you can get a silver key and open a treasure chest containing a potion. When you go into the Jail for the first time, the guard will often say "I don't find this the least bit amusing." The area's fast travel location is listed as Bower Lake Road.

The Wharf[]

The Wharf is located under the Town Square end of Bower Bridge. The docks here are where a lot of the trade into Albion arrives through, and where some 'dodgy' folks can be found. All Downloadable Content quests start here.

The Gargoyle's Trove[]

The Gargoyle's Trove is a hidden area underneath Bower Bridge. You have to dive to find it.

Jobs[]

There are four jobs available in Bowerstone Market during the events of Fable II:

Fable III[]

Bowerstone Market returns again in Fable III. Since Fable II, it has grown and has many more houses. The area around the edge has expanded to allow for more housing.

Overview[]

The clock tower has become bigger since Fable II and there are Lute Hero jobs around the tower. In the water under the bridge (where in Fable II you would find the Gargoyle's Trove entrance) you will find a dive spot containing a random item.

Economy[]

Bowerstone Market once again caters for much of the Hero's shopping needs, including clothes, potions, pawnbrokers, hairstyles, weapons, furniture, general goods, tattoos and food. Stalls are open from 5:00am until 10:00pm, and shops are open from 6:00am to 9:00pm.

Law[]

Law enforcement is handled by the guards of the Royal Army. There are regular patrols across the district and a few stationary guard posts near the entrances and on the bridge. The larger shops are fitted with alarms that are likely to activate in the event of a break-in or theft during the night-time.

Points of Interest[]

The Town Square[]

The majority of shops in the region can be found surrounding the iconic clock tower in the Town Square. Clockwise from the river, you will find The Magic Bottle, Bowerstone Broker, I'll Cut You, The Iron Hoof, The Cock in the Crown, and Bower Threads. Next to the bridge sits the Jewel Be Sorry gift stall, and along the road above the river is Tat's the Way to Do It! tattoo shop. A side road leads between the stylist and weapon shop and past the Bowerstone Storage warehouse towards the Old Quarter. Sovereign Road, at the head of the square, leads up the hill to Bowerstone Castle.

Millfields Gate[]

Millfields Gate is the main entrance to the city, and the inner square is adorned with a statue of King Logan. A few jail cells can be found within the walls here, and the guard Henry occasionally asks for assistance in retrieving some escaped convicts. A small courtyard beyond an archway houses the furniture shop We've Got Wood and a set of steps to the city walls.

Through the archway on the other side, the road passes Gifts & Gumf General Store, Flower Bower and Num Num Pies, before passing through a gate to Bowerstone Industrial. Another set of steps to the city wall can be found behind the Flower Bower produce stall.

River Bower[]

The majestic Bower Bridge spans the river between the Town Square and the Gate. Underneath the bridge at the Gate end sits the Bowerstone Beverages drinks stall, and further along the wharf is The Old Trout trade goods and fish stall. The entrance to the Hideout is located in the wall of the bridge between these two stalls. At the other end of the wharf is a signpost advertising a Pie Making job.

Jobs[]

There are three jobs available in Bowerstone Market during the events of Fable III:

Notes[]

  • There were rumours that the silver key in the Hideout in Fable III could not be reached after leaving the area, but these are untrue. If you can't get in a door that you think leads to the Hideout, under the bridge, go several feet to the right, where there is another door.
  • In Fable III a chest can be seen through the alleyway between the tattoo shop (Tat's the Way to Do It!) and the property named Riverside Studios, but the path is blocked by a fence, and there is currently no known way to reach it.

Trivia[]

  • In Fable II, the sun rises in the West (Fairfax Road) and sets in the East (Bower Lake Road), contrary to rising in the East and setting in the West, as it does in the real world, as well as elsewhere in Albion.
  • In the Hideout in Fable III, where you have your final showdown with Ferret, you can get to the basement on the way to the silver key, go behind some stacked up crates to see a Hobbe bowing to a crate with hearts on it along with a cake on a table, a clear reference to the video game Portal.
  • In Fable III, beneath Bower Bridge, on the river's bottom, lies a grate adorned with the image of a Gargoyle, marking the entrance to the now inaccessible Gargoyle's Trove from Fable II.
